Jobs Await Tourists in USA

February 3, 2012 – International tourism is being encouraged by US President Obama to boost job creation in the state of Florida and throughout the country. This was said in his speech on Main Street USA in Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

“The more folks who visit America, the more Americans we get back to work. It’s that simple,” the president said. “That’s why we’re all here today, to tell the world that America is open for business,” he said.

With the government’s goal to make America as the “top tourist destination in the world”, President Obama also made plans to make American visa processing faster and easier especially for tourists coming from China, India, and Brazil.

The White House said that such tourists usually spend about $5,000 for every trip. And for every 65 additional tourists, one job more is created in the United States. According to Robert Iger, President and Ceo of Walt Disney, Co., making the US visa processing and US visa application easier and faster presents a potential for more jobs in the US.

“Changing our visa policy and investing more in the process to make it easier for people to get visas and travel to the United States would be a great boon for the American economy because the international tourist comes, stays longer, spends money, and that creates jobs,” said Iger.

On this positive announcement of the President, the White House says it is not politically motivated.

“We’ve got the best product to sell. I mean, look at where we are. We’ve got the most entertaining destinations in the world,” said President Obama.

“I confess, I am excited to see Mickey. It’s always nice to meet a world leader who has bigger ears than me,” he added.

However, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus says , “It’s a campaign trip to a very important battleground state of Florida where the president, quite frankly, is doing very poorly in the polls, at best.”
